You may sleep in your MH, and the guide will camp with the driver by your MH, if both you and the guide don't sleep in hotels. If you would like to sleep in hotel for 1-2 nights for any in case, the reference cost is as below: 100-200RMB for small hotel or hostel twin room, 200-300RMB/each room each night for 3 star standard hotel, and 300-500RMB for 4 start standard hotel, and 600-1200RMB/ each room each night for 5 start standard hotels. These prices are only for reference, and the price may differ between small city and big city. And if there is big meeting or some activities at somewhere, the hotel cost will be higher. If you don't need support vehicle, it is not safe for one guide to sleep in the tent and he or she need to stay in your vehicle or in a local hostel, which may cost 100RMB each night and you need to pay for this.

Meals

It is flexible for you to decide where to eat and what to eat and cook by yourselves or eat in restaurant. If you cook by yourselves, you may buy vegetable and meat in the market, and for vegetable, it is 2-8 RMB per half kilo, and for fish, it is about 10-20RMB per half kilo, and for beef or mutton, it is about 20-40RMB per half kilo, and for pork, it is about 10-12RMB for half kilo. This is the price at present and only for reference. The price may also differ at differnet places.  only for reference. The guide will eat with you.

Entrance fees

We leave this flexibility for you to decide to visit or not and you can pay at spot. Since there may be some difference between your expection and the real case, if you don't want to visit, you can just drive through. But in China, the entrance tickets are more expensive than the European ones. When you confirm the tour, I will make a list of all visit sites entrance price, which may take some time to update.

Vehicle costs

1, Fuel, the present price is 6.3-6.7 RMB/per liter for the petrol and dissel.  You know the fuel price change according to the petrol price in the world, so this is only for reference.

2, Road toll fee for vehicles like yours ( big vehicles), on expressway, it is about 60-80RMB every 100kms.But this is not a fixed one, someplaces little, some places a lot.  If you prepare 80RMB for every 100kms, that will be fine. Xinjiang and Qinghai's many roads only collect a little toll fee, but in middle and east China, the toll fee is high.

3,traffic accident compensation, difficult to estimate. Hope never happen in our tour.

4, repairing, suggest bring the consumable parts of your vehicle, because if there are some problems, sometimes, it is difficult to buy the proper ones in China and have to wait there for post from UK to China, which cost more time.
5,spare parts, difficult to estimate.
6, Parking, only collect parking cost when you stop your car in the city street or parking lot. Usually 5-20 RMB for first 2 hours, and then 2 RMB for next every one hour. Small city ,5 RMB start, big city, 10 or 20RMB start. .

Tips

Tips for the guide and driver are recommended.

Personal Expense

Drinking or souvenir etc.

Separate Optional Cost

Support Vehicle 4WD support vehicle:  129400RMB/each 4WD NZ$24,938.52

Common Car support vehicle: 109000RMB/each Car $NZ 21,006.95 / 4 = NZ$5251

Includes: the vehicle cost, fuel, toll fee, parking, spare parts, driver's salary, empty drive to entry port and back from exit port.

Excludes: driver's accommodation and meals. if the driver camp, there is no cost. But we require that every 3-5 days, the guide and driver must need to stay in hotel for one night to have a shower and good rest. If he stay in hotel, you need to pay for the hotel cost which will be not a lot.

Since the tour is too long, about 90 days add the empty drive, which make the cost quiet high. You can decide to use the support vehicle or not. If you use, the guide will sit in the support vehicle and camp with the driver, and if there is any emergent case, the support vehicle may help.

Second guide

The cost for the second guide.
300RMB for each day, and 88 days means 26400RMB, and (2600RMB for expenses in getting the guide to the entry border and back home from exit border), so 29300RMB in all for the second guide.

29300/5.18876 = 5646.82 / 4 = NZ$1411.70

And if the group divided into two for some small part, the two guides may lead two group for short time. One guide’s cost is much lower than the support vehicle. But also the support vehicle has its function. This depends on your choice.

For every night, I just list out the town or city or area you will stay, so the guide can find a small hostel or local family to stay. It is not easy, but I think for most nights, the guide can find the small hotel, if you don’t stay in the very wild, but near a village or a town. The extra cost for the hotel for the guide each night will be about 100 to 150. I think for small place, 100 will be ok.

Hotel every night for guide = 100*90= 9000 /4 =2250 = NZ$ 433.63 (if required)

During the tour, you need to be responsible for both guides’ meals during the tour.

And the second guide may sleep with the first guide in tent, but every 3-4 nights, please send the two guides to a small hotel or hostel to have a good shower and rest. That will be fine.

If you think the guides’ services are good and be helpful during the tour, the tip is preferred.

One point to remind, if there is heavy rain or thunder that day, the guides may go to a small hotel nearby to stay that night. We appreciate your understanding at this aspect.

If there are two guides in one group, one guide in front vehicle and one guide in the rear vehicle.

If there are 4 vehicles and 2 guides in the group, and one guide eat with one vehicle a day, two guides eat with two vehicles a day, every 2 days, one guide will have a dinner with you.

The guide will have breakfast and dinner with you for that day.

In China, people get used to have 3 meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner.

We know that usually western people have simple lunch, and during the driving tour, they don’t have lunch or a very very simple one.

For Chinese people we get used to a hot lunch, even a bowl of hot noodle. During the tour, if we pass a small restaurant, shall we stop for 10 minutes for the guide to have a hot quick noodle?

This is preferred. If bread or fruit for lunch, this is ok, but not everyday. This may make the guide feel much better for the lunch aspect.
