Fuelling
If people start with a full tank of diesel they usually can handle a 500 km trip without refuelling.
1, There is no problem. Since we will not drive the Tibet rural area, and we will drive the sealed roads for this part, there is petrol station within 200KMs, so you can fill it full every 400kms. If one full tank of diesel can drive 500kms, there is no problem at all for your tour.
Would you please advise me of the price of diesel, and if it varies throughout China please advise me of the high and the low. This information is to allow those travelling with me to calculate their travel costs.
6, For diesel price in China, it is about 6.2-6.3 RMB / per liter now and the price is changing. This price can only be for reference. And it may be not the price for diesel you will pay when you drive in China. I believe you can understand this. And till now the price is almost the highest in the history.
But at some rural places, the price might be 6.5 RMB / per liter. But for most of the places, the price is about 6.3 RMB / each liter, and this price lasted for nearly 10 months
Can we expect any problems with the diesel or should we consider extra filtration within our fuel systems.
2, Till now, we had many teams every year that my guests use the diesel as the fuel. I haven’t heard that their vehicle caused by China’s diesel problem. But in this Sep. I had a team who met their diesel engine problem. After analysis by themselves, they thought the problem was caused by 3 reasons. A) their diesel engine is too old, many years used. B) There is a lot of dirt on the way from middle Asia to China. C) the diesel they filled on the way is not very good, especially in middle Asia, and they met the diesel problem one week before enter China and can not repair. So they sent the spare parts to China.
Very seldom I had heard that our guests’ vehicle had problem caused by China’s petrol or diesel.
But for your tour, since you drive the MHs for thousands kms, and I suggest that you bring some spare parts for your vehicles, because it is very hard to buy the same kind in China, especially for MH. Even the spare part is the same as the common vehicle, but sometimes the China use one is different form the European ones. You have traveled a lot, I think you can understand this. The consumable are suggested to bring with your vehicle during the tour, such as the filter parts.
The answer is you should get another diesel fuel filter fitted and carry spares
Propane or LPG
They will be carrying two cylinders of propane or LPG for heating and cooking, these possibly may need to be refilled at some point, and we would need to know if this is possible.
4, About the LPG for heating and cooking, there is no problem. In most of China’s city or counties, people can find places to fill the LPG. And when your tour confirmed and during the organization period, I will search and make out the list of LPG shop for your route and the guide will hold that list and at every place, you can drive to that shop to refill the LPG. I will write the shop name, phone, contact person and address on the list. This will add a little more work, but no problem, we can organize this for you.
Freshwater
They carry 100 to 150 litres of freshwater for washing and cooking, they need to replenish this every third day with either tap water or some others source of clean water. If on occasions they had to draw this water from a clean river they will need to know so they can install proper filtration.
3, There is no problem about the water aspect. You can fill water everyday. But there is one thing to note, the tap water in China is different from the one in Europe. People can not drink the tap water in China direct. It need boiling before drinking. But people can use the tap water to clean directly. For your route, you can find water recourse (tap water) every day. But if you replenish your water tag by tap water, you need to pay the water. You can fill the water tag at petrol station, or private people’s yard or some restaurant etc. Since there is almost no MH park in China, it is hard to find a park for you to stop and replenish the water.
We don’t suggest drawing the water from the river, because people can not 100% sure that the water is clean and can drink directly. The most guaranteed water is tap water.
The answer is YES you will need good filtration
Leisure batteries
Most carry good leisure batteries and can do with out electricity for up to 3 days but occasionally may need to plug in to a power supply to recharge the batteries, if this is not possible again we will need to know so that possible alternatives can be considered.
5, about the batteries power recharge, if you choose village side or road side to camp, there is no power in the night.
The answer is YES you will have to be self-sufficient with either Sola panels or a generator if you need extra power for your leisure Battery |
ATM machines
Are ATM machines (Bankomat) for withdrawing money, common throughout China?
11, In China, for almost all cities or counties, there is Bank of China. At Bank of China’s ATM, you can draw money by your VISA or MARSTER card. This is convenient.

The washing of your clothes
The moment you leave Europe, you will not find a camping ground, you're properly not going to find a laundromat, this means any washing of your clothes may have to be done on the rocks in a river, like we see on television of Third World countries..
How you wash your clothes is your concern and need not involve any other member of the party, however you can always do what we do and carry a small washing machine with us, this washes and spin dries, which allows us to wash clothes when ever we require, and we have two retractable clothes lines in our motorhome were it normally takes about four hours for them to finish drying. See Washing machine Washing machine working The price is about €80 around Europe or UK
These are the quite cheap washing machines and we have used the one we have at moment for two years with only one failure, for some reason it would not switch on. Sorry it is not for hire!
